Course information

Our course features some of Lawrence’s iconic landmarks and as few of Lawrence’s iconic hills as possible!

Both courses are USATF certified :

Aid Stations:

There will be seven aid stations along the half marathon course.
Aid Station 1:Mile 1.8
Aid Station 2: Mile 3
Aid Station 3: Mile 5.1
Aid Station 4: Mile 6.7
Aid Station 5: Mile 8
Aid Station 6: Mile 9.7
Aid Station 7: Mile 11.2

All aid stations will have water, a Port-A-John, and sports drink; energy gels will be available at Aid Stations 4, 5, 6, and 7.

The 5k will have a single aid station at Mile 1.5 with water and sports drink.

Awards

We will have awards for the top 3 male and top 3 female overall and masters runners in both the 5k and the half marathon. Winners will receive a plaque as well as gift cards from Ad Astra Running (AAR).

Top-3 Overall:
1st — $100 gift cert. to AAR
2nd — $50 gift cert. to AAR
3rd — $35 gift cert. to AAR
Top-3 Masters:
1st — $35 gift cert. to AAR
2nd — $25 gift cert. to AAR

Top-3 Overall:

In addition, we will have awards for the top three runners of each age group. Age groups are listed below:

5k: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
Half Marathon: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

All runners will receive a finisher’s medal as well.

Pace Teams

We are proud to have the SmartPacing Pace Team on the half marathon route! Pacers will be available for the following finish times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40 ,1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30, 2:35, 2:40, 2:45, 2:50, 2:55, 3:00, and 3:10

The half marathon features downtown Lawrence, the river, and the Baker Wetlands. The course has seven aid stations and approximately 500 ft of elevation, most of it early in the route. A link to the course is provided below.

*Note: The courses are certified off of the tangents-assuming the runner takes the shortest possible path on the course, per USATF guidelines. Garmin and Onthegomap don’t do that, so the courses appear long in the linked files.

The 5k route loops around downtown Lawrence, with one aid station and approximately 120 ft of elevation gain.
