2014 Recap: A Look Back.
2014 gave way to some major changes to the Kansas Half Marathon. For the last 8 years it had been an April/Spring race. We moved it to November/Autumn for the 2014 race. Coordinating the event needed the extra time if it was going to happen.
Not only did it happen, but through some incredible support and collaboration from local organizations, individuals, and past runners, we were able to make the race a success. Almost a thousand people signed up for a race that changed not only it’s date but its course! The race couldn’t of happened without the artistry and expertise of the folks at Silverback Enterprises. They designed a stunning half marathon course that is USATF certified. It features sites of Lawrence never before seen on the half marathon. Check out some of the beautiful photos taken by Mile 90 Photography.
Financially, we were able to raise thousands of dollars for Health Care Access yet again and their mission of serving the low-income and uninsured in Douglas County. This event helps their organization tremendously each and every year.
To everyone who ran it this past year, our sponsors, and all the selfless volunteers: thank you. We love putting this event on and couldn’t do it without you.
